Cut Ties with this Vested Interest
In the past style decade, an homage has been made to the 70s, 80s and now 90s. One of the more popular style trends as of late that existed in all three eras has been the denim vest. Like other 2013-2014 fads such as overalls, ombré everything, spikes, and platform heels, the denim vest quickly saturated the shopping space, building a presence in teen and tweentysomething wardrobes (including my own).
Not only did the denim vest make a sharp comeback, it also reinvented itself, taking on studs, tie-dye, acid wash, or even patterns. With multiple iterations, the denim vest was available for any fashionista ready to add day-time edge to her look. Now that the year is winding down, it is time to toss this throwback back to its glorious 80s roots (we feel that’s when denim vests really took off) and look for other ways to add that rock n’ roll feel to our wardrobes.
For fall/winter 2014 style develop an entire tough-girl-chic look with key staple pieces like a leather skirt, concert tee, and printed handbag. All three of those pieces can be used interchangeably to keep your style constantly revolving. A bright red blazer, causal tee, distressed denim, and smoking loafers is another fashionable combo that gives your style edge without falling into the wardrobe fad category.
This season, let’s update our looks with a pop of contemporary edge and give denim vests the PINK SLIP.
